The Twelve Days of XXXmas

My husband is all about the little things. He believes that small gestures are really important in creating and maintaining that special feeling in a relationship, and he’s very good about surprising me with little treats, notes, sexy texts, and sweet words. I knew that this would be something that Sir would really love, so I started planning right away. I thought that twenty four days would be too much for both of us and our schedule, so I decided to cut it down to the Twelve Days of Christmas complete with a little card for each day to be given with the gift. Some of the cards were straight forward and said exactly what that day would entail, and some cards were a riddle for him to ponder while at work. I am so grateful to missy for this wonderful idea, and I know that my husband was really blown away by the end results!

I printed the list out on pretty paper and handed it to him in an envelope when he got home from work. We had to skip this day because we were still dealing with difficulties from the snowstorm. But, one day soon he will come home to find me only in my stockings. I got this one directly from missy. Since our trip to Ireland this past March, we’ve been on an Irish whiskey kick. We’ve always preferred Irish whiskey, but now I think it’s safe to say we’re obsessed. It’s not always easy to find new bottles here in the “Bible-belt” South, but I did and he was quite pleased. It was also a perfect timing to give this to him right before my mother arrived for the holidays so he could sneak off for a nip if he needed a break!

It was such a treat for me to give him his card each day, and I know that he was excited about it as well, often asking “when do I get my card?!”. I’ll have to start brainstorming some new ideas well ahead of time for next year so that I can come up with some new exciting gifts to give, but I’m sure I’ll recycle some of our favorites from this year. And, I can’t thank missy enough for her inspiring idea!
